Ever since joining the Angel rotation in early April to take over for the injured Andrew Heaney, Tropeano has been a solid performer for the Angels. He has given up 3 or fewer runs in all but one of his 8 starts this season, but up until his last start he had been unable to complete 6 full innings. That all changed Wednesday night against the Dodgers however, as Tropeano turned in one of the best starts of his young career. In that game Tropeano went 7 innings giving up just 1 run and scattering 7 hits to take the victory in a game the Angels won 8-1.

After tossing 6 shutout innings to beat the Angels in Anaheim on April 30, Holland’s season fell off the tracks somewhat. Over his next two starts he allowed a combined 16 earned runs over just 5 innings (2 2/3 on May 5 and 2 1/3 on May 10), skyrocketing his season ERA from 2.48 to 6.09. He was able to settle things down his last time out however, as he held the A’s to 2 runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, but he still took the loss in a game the Rangers dropped 3-1.
