Salazar, who has been probably the most stable Cleveland starter so far this season as he’s given up more than 3 earned runs in a start just once in 11 outings so far, will be pitching on 8 days rest today as he was skipped the last time through the rotation due to shoulder fatigue. In his last start June 3 against Kansas City he held the Royals to just 1 run on 3 hits over 8 innings, but he did walk 5 batters in that contest. Nonetheless he walked away with the victory in a game the Indians won 6-1.

David Huff (0-1, 12.27 ERA)

Signed to a minor-league contract by the Angels in early May, Huff made his Angel debut on Tuesday in New York and it did not go well. In that game he gave up 5 runs on 8 hits in just 3 2/3 innings to take the loss in a game the Angels dropped 6-3. The Angels had been hopeful that two-time Cy Young Award winner and recent signee Tim Lincecum would be able to make today’s start, but it would appear he needs at least one more rehab start and is now targeting Saturday June 18 in Oakland to make his Angel debut.

Game Notes

  • Huff is the 107th player to have played for both the Dodgers and the Angels. He also pitched in five seasons (2009-13) for the Indians, going 18-26 with a 5.40 ERA over 288 1/3 innings.
  • Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun is 3-for-6 (.500) vs. Salazar, with two home runs and three RBIs.
  • Indians first baseman Mike Napoli is 4-for-8 (.500) vs. Huff, with two homers and four RBIs.
