Bridwell has had promise in the Orioles system, but his development has been prolonged by sporadic blow-ups with his command sandwiched in between long periods of missing bats and preventing base runners. By now, however, it was time to move on and today the Angels acquired the young righty.
For his career, Bridwell has posted a 4.79 ERA in eight career minor league seasons, first as a starter and now as a swing man.
The youngster will most likely serve as an emergency multi-innings relief option in AA for the Halos while trying to catch up on his overall development. Probably not one to get excited about the future. The Halos are just looking for back up options in case the wheels fall off their staff again.
The #Angels have moved Huston Street to the 60-day DL. That means he can't come back until June.

This created the 40-man roster spot for Bridwell. It was also prompted by a shoulder issue that popped up during Street’s throwing sessions. Could be a good indication the long-time closer’s career is close to an end.
