Angels place Jered Weaver on disabled list
Anaheim, CA - The morning of Opening Day of Angels Stadium should be a happy occasion. However the Angels are expected to announce that RHP Jered Weaver will be placed on the 15-day disabled list for 4-6 weeks with a "non-displaced radial fracture" of his left (non-throwing) elbow.
Weaver injured his fielding arm falling awkwardly while trying to duck out of the way of a line drive off the bat of Rangers' Mitch Moreland Sunday night in Texas.
Los Angeles selected the contract of RHP Dane De La Rosa from Triple-A Salt Lake, adding him to the 40 man roster. Andrew Taylor has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
De La Rosa (30) is a Riverside native who has pitched briefly in the Major Leagues for Tampa Bay. He has made two appearances for Salt Lake with 1 save in two games.
Garret Richards or Jerome Williams are expected to fill Weaver's rotation spot.
