Anaheim, CA - After the close the of the 2012 season for the Angels, general manager Jerry Dipoto struck quickly to keep starting catcher Chris Iannetta in the fold. Iannetta agreed to a 3 year contract worth approximately $15.5 million.
Iannetta (29), was acquired this past off-season for RHP Tyler Chatwood. He produced a slash line of .244/.332/.398/.730 with 9 homeruns and 26 RBI.
The future for prospect Hank Conger is now cloudy. Will the Angels keep him as a reserve, cutting ties with Bobby Wilson and John Hester. Or will Dipoto fill pitching holes by trading the switch hitting Conger?
Iannetta contract runs through 2015.
