Today the Angels got a jump on the 2014 season acquiring RHP Cory Rasmus and a 1st round draft pick from the Atlanta Braves for LHP Scott Downs.

The 37 year old left handed reliever played 3.5 seasons going 9-7, 2.10 ERA with 10 saves. Downs was signed to a four year contract in December of 2010 by then general manager Tony Reagins.

Cory Rasmus (brother of Toronto's Colby), 25 is a former 1st round pick by the Braves in 2006 and made his MLB debut this year. Rasmus was 0-0, 8.10 in 6 innings for Atlanta. He was 3-1, 1.72 ERA and 1.14 WHIP at Triple-A Gwinnett pitching in relief.
