The Angels‘ bullpen is taxed from a lot of work taking two out of three in New York. So the club called up right-handed reliever Eduardo Paredes from AAA Salt Lake. Here’s what we know about this kid, along with other moves.
- Paredes, 22, is possibly another hidden weapon the Halos have stashed. The Venezuelan-born hurler is their 15th best prospect in what is supposed to be a weak minor league system. He owns a career 2.56 ERA in the minors, along with a 10.4 K/9, 2.5 BB/9, and a 1.124 WHIP.
- The only reason Paredes is ranked that low is because he’s a reliever.
- The corresponding move was to send C.J. Cron back to AAA. It might be time to make a deal if that’s even possible. The Angels probably should’ve traded him and Carlos Perez for pitching when they had the chance.
- Doug Fister was also claimed by the Red Sox and will start Sunday against the Halos and Parker Bridwell, who was Fister’s replacement.
