Jered Weaver (4-5, 4.60 ERA)
Entering Friday’s contest at Yankee Stadium, Weaver had posted a 1.98 ERA over his previous five starts. Friday night, the Yankees tagged Weaver for 7 runs on 9 hits over 5 2/3 innings. The silver lining in that start however was that most of the damage came on three home runs that barely cleared Yankee Stadium’s short porch in right field. Weaver will look to right the ship tonight in the more symmetrical Tropicana Field.
Erasmo Ramirez (4-2, 5.10 ERA)
Acquired from Seattle in a late-spring trade, Ramirez has had his ups & downs so far this season for Tampa Bay. He did however post his fourth win of the season Thursday after holding his former team to one run on 7 hits over 5 1/3 innings. Ramirez is 1-1 with a 3.13 ERA in 7 appearances (3 starts) at Tropicana Field this season.
- Asdrubal Cabrera, who has struggled badly at the plate this season, is 12-for-40 (.300) with 2 home runs, 4 doubles, and 5 RBIs in his career against Jered Weaver.
- Erasmo Ramirez will be facing the Angels for the first time since being acquired from Seattle on the last day of March. In 5 career appearnces (4 starts) against the Angels, he is 1-2 with a 2.28 ERA.
- The Rays have won just one of their last 6 series against the Angels at Tropicana Field. The one series win was a 3-game sweep in April 2012.
