On The Field: Who Needs the Homerun Derby?

It all made sense last night after Mike Trout declined entry into the MLB All-Star Homerun Derby. He’s putting on his own show. With two bombs , Trout tied Albert Pujols for the American League lead with 26 dingers. Not be outdone, the second also came after C.J. Cron had hit two homers for himself. This capped a strong performance by Hector Santiago, as the Angels nailed the Seattle Mariners to the wall, 7-3. We have full coverage from local beats:
