Weaver will continue his up & down season today, looking to rebound from a recent 3-start losing streak in which he’s posted a 6.64 ERA. In 32 career starts against the A’s (his 2nd most against any opponent), he’s posted a 13-10 record and a 2.64 ERA. His last start was a somewhat rough one at home against Arizona on Monday, as he gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits (2 home runs), but did pitch through the 7th inning on just 95 pitches. He did take the loss as the Angels dropped that game 7-4.

Jesse Hahn (4-5, 3.62 ERA)

After getting roughed up to the tune of 4 runs on 7 hits over 3 2/3 innings two starts ago against Texas, Hahn rebounded nicely in his last start. In that start he held the Padres to just 1 run on 3 hits over 6 2/3 innings in a game the A’s won 9-1 down at Petco Park. Hahn hasn’t surrendered a home run in his 3 June starts, and has only surrendered 3 home runs all season long (77 innings pitched).

Game Notes:

  • Weaver is three wins shy of 138, which would tie Nolan Ryan for second in Angels history. Chuck Finley is first with 165. Weaver is also 50 strikeouts shy of 1,500.
  • A’s center fielder Billy Burns has hit safely in each of his last 10 games and 22 of his last 23.
  • Hahn is 0-3 with a 5.12 ERA in six starts against American League West competition, compared to 4-2 with a 2.59 ERA in seven starts against everyone else.
